sunflowers in ProvenceWhat is Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapy?

Cognitive-Behavioral Psychology refers to a way of assessing one’s behaviors, thoughts, and problems such that it lends itself to using cognitions in order to problem-solve effectively. This does not mean that all problems originate in one’s thoughts, but rather that this is the angle from which we choose to begin addressing your concerns.

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a therapeutic procedure which induces an altered state of consciousness where the mind is open and receptive to suggestions from a trusted and benevolent therapist. I use hypnosis as a clinical tool when appropriate. For example, hypnosis can be used to teach meditation, deep relaxation, and visualization. It can also help with weight management, smoking cessation, and many other issues.

What is the Multidisciplinary Approach?

The term “multidisciplinary” is often used to describe the ideal form of care for a complex condition, such as headaches, depression, anxiety, etc. The benefit of multidisciplinary care is that the client can get the opinion and treatment of several experts, and therefore feel more confident that all treatment options have been explored. In the Medical-Dental Building, we have access to a wide range of disciplines relevant to health, including medicine, naturopathy, physical therapy, massage, acupuncture, psychiatry and so on. We refer freely to each other and consult with one another when appropriate.
